Time lines

I was asked a question over thanksgiving break from one of my neighbors. She was trying to impress her son, and keep him on the right path by asking a college kid, 'What do you do with your free time?'.... I guess she wanted me to answer, I study, study, study. Honestly, that is what I do, I study my tiny heart away. (that makes sense, right?). Getting back on track I answered her, "I look at time lines' which I do do. More then normal people, if normal people look at time lines. I analyze them, not only for school but because its also interesting. After saying that, she had a blank expression on her face as if I was supposed to inspire her son by saying the perfect mixture of hard work and play leads to success. She really thought I was weird, and after she noticed her son walk away, she asked me, 'Time lines? really?' I asked her, 'what do you know about the world?' she responded, 'I don't know, I know whats going on'. I told her, history unlocks the future, seeing how I am that college kid, I fly with the big boys. She was still really confused, I did not know how to answer her, so I told her this. 'The only way to fix the future is to learn from our past', a pretty well known saying. When I saw that I was losing her, I blurted out, 'its also interesting, especially because I am a history major'. She then understood why I said, I study time lines.

After she thanked me for attempting to inspire her kid to succeed, I told her 'you cant inspire your kid, he has to inspire himself, because no matter what happens, the only way to inspire someone is if they inspire themselves.'

For the first time in my life, the college kid gave the adult advice.

The recap

It was a wet and brisk night in Birmingham, Aston Villa hosting Tottenham Hotspur. This time last year, Tottenham were fighting to get out of the relegation zone, only sitting on 17 points compared to Villa's 25 points. This year though is different, as Liverpool has collapsed and the hunt is on for the Champions League spot. Aston Villa, Manchester City and Liverpool are also fighting for the spot, so the meeting between Villa and Spurs was a important one, for both clubs. If Villa won, they would go even on points with Tottenham who lead the race for the open spot, and if Tottenham won it would widen the gap between the teams racing to scrap up enough points.

The first half, Tottenham played like crap. I felt like I was watching little kids play against pro's. Passes would be horrible, and Spurs might as well been teamed up with Villa as a larger amount of their passes ended up going to Villa players. Villa deserved to score their first goal, not because they were playing extremely well, but because Spurs were playing horrible.

Second half made up for it though, for most of the second half, Villa were stuck in their own box, not being able to clear the ball, and when they did, they had nobody foward to help the counter attack so the ball would be played in again. You see this kinda of play when the 'Top Four' play the bottom teams in the league and in lower leagues, but to see this happening to the #5 team who want to challenge for the fourth place was astonishing. After 78 minutes of Villa players diving infront of every shot taken by Spurs players, Dawson made a beautiful goal from the edge of the 18. This tied the game, Spurs had many chances, and it looked like they were playing like they did last weekend, during their 9-1 thrashing of Wigan. Lennon came out to play in the second half. He played poetically, and the fans read it as they watched him dance his way through the Villa defenders and into the box time after time. However, all the effort and all the hard work put into the second half, the Spurs could not capture the 3 points they hoped to steal.

So and the end of the day, Tottenham tied 1-1 with Villa. Spurs fans may be dissapointed, but to come out with a point from Villa park is an achievement. Last year we would not of been able to come out with a result. Im happy with one point...
So it goes like this
1st: Chelsea 33 pts 13 games played
2nd: Man U 31 pts 14 g.p.
3rd: Tottenham 26 pts 14 g.p
4th Arsenal 25 pts 13 g.p
5th Aston Villa 23 pts 14 g.p
6th Man Citeh 22 pts 13 g.p.

Still close, and close to the end of the 1st half of the season.

Unflinching Loyalty

I wonder how weird it is that I am in complete utter love with a sports team. I look forward to the weekend just to watch them, I spend endless hours on youtube watching videos about them. I guess everyone needs their addictions. Some people have drugs/alcohol, some have cigarettes, some video games etc etc, I have Tottenham Hotspur. It really is hard to explain, because until a couple years ago, I hated watching the games, they were boring, then the planets aligned and bing-buda-boom. I become obsessed. Probably a real turnoff eh? I suppose some people think its cute, but they soon find out how crazy I am. I think I'd fit right in if I was thrown back into London. (Probably get my ass kicked though). I wrote this, cause I am really excited, like night before Christmas excited for the game this weekend, even though its not a derby/against one of Tottenhams' many rivals, but just because its the best part of my week, for that 90 or so minutes, im in paradise, funny how that's what keeps me going.
My History professor keeps saying, you gotta do something that 'turns you on' ( this is an 80 year old guy by the way), I never really understood/took him seriously, but in a way, I guess Tottenham Hotspur turns me on.
So, who thinks I'm weird? Oh everyone in the USA, A because they think the sport is for pansies and B because even I think its weird, but guess what.... I don't care what you think, cause I am in love and that my friends is more important then caring what you think.

So I bid you farewell and goodnight, and just because I can,
"We love you tottenham, we do, We love you tottenham, we do, we love you tottenham we do, ohh tottenham we love you."
85% of people will miss pronounce Tottenham.

P.S. Its thanksgiving, I feel it important to personally be thankful for - Tottenham, tea, chocolate, my friends, my fantastic family, my ability to call and explain what thanksgiving is to some Europeans and for my happiness. its cliche, but its the holidays, we're supposed to all be cliche when it comes to holidays.

People say I have bad taste in films, well maybe, but I sure like my taste. I find myself stuck with one director. ( He also directed Love Actually (best movie ever!)). It turns out he wrote, 4 Weddings and a Funeral, Bridget Jones Diary ( not really that fond of it), Mr. Bean (just because its British) Notting Hill. But anyways, Pirate Radio was beauty. I loved it. I give it 5 stars, but it only got 3. Its 2 hours long, but very enjoyable. I am addicted.

Title: Ub40 - I Got You Babe lyrics

Artist: Ub40 Lyrics

They say we`re young and we don`t know
Won`t find out till we grow
Well I don`t babay that`s true
Cause you got me and baby I got you

(Chorus)

Babe, I got you babe, I got you, Babe.

They say our love won`t pay the rent
Before it`s earn`d our money`s always spent
I guess that`s so, we don`t have a lot
But at least I`m sure of all the things we got

(Chorus)

Babe, I got you babe, I got you, Babe.
I got flowers in the spring
I got you, to wear my ring
And when I`m sad, you`re a clown
And when I get scared you`re always around
so let them say your hair`s too long
I don`t care, with you I can`t do wrong
and put your little hand in mine
There ain`t no hill or mountain we can`t climb

(Chorus)

Babe, I got you babe, I got you, Babe.

I got you to hold my hand
I got you to understand
I got you to walk with me
I got you to talk with me
I got you to kiss goodnight
I got you to hold me tight
I got you I won`t let go
I got you to love me so
I got you, babe

Dear Mr. Econ Man, You suck!

Dear Mr. econ man, you suck.
You think youre a proffessor but you are not.
Youre a failed mayor, and a failed teacher
Dear Mr.econ man, you suck
You draw pointless graphs, fuck the phillips curve.
You explain economy issues from the 19 bloody 60's
Dear Mr.econ man, you suck.
How are you a teacher
How are you so oblivious
Please Mr.Econ man, leave and never come back.

Why I love soccer.

Life, It can be difficult, you know that, we all need someone to rely on. Someone that’s gonna be there. Someone’s that’s gonna make you feel like you belong ,someone constant.

Its ecstasy, anguish, joy and despair, Its part of our history, its part of our country, and it will be part of our future. Its theatre, art, war, and love. It should be predictable but never is, it’s a feeling that cant be explained, but we spend our lives explaining it. Its our religion, we do not apologize for it, we do not deny it, they are our team, our family, our lives.
